Saying Goodbye to Summer

Well, this has definitely been our busiest summer yet, but by far our best! We have had so much fun playing and traveling. In fact, school is in now but we just couldn't let go so we took a couple more weekend trips this month. Here's some pics and details from those. :)

First we took our annual trip to Pacific Beach, WA to camp and visit our friends the Shakespeare's. The weather this year was amazing and we lived at the beach on Friday and Sat. The kids had so much fun. The only thing missing was the Shakespeare's. :( They had a family wedding that weekend and couldn't be with us. We missed them so much but know that we'll see them soon. There was definitely no lack of friends with us. We went with a huge group of families from our ward and friends in the area. We pretty much took over the camp ground and had a blast. It was so much fun with all our friends. I hope that next year even more can come!! Here's some pictures...


Oh how my kids love the sand!




Shane was worried about the cookies getting lost so he carried them with him!! Of course, later that night he miss placed them and the raccoons had them for a midnight snack. :)



All the kids had a chance to meet the camp ground mascot. He handed out little prizes and stickers to them and posed for pictures. The kids were so excited that you have thought it was Santa visiting!


Not sure what Damon was doing here so we decided we better leave and give him some privacy!! :)

Lots of laughs were had by all. It was a great weekend!




I promised my kids a trip to the zoo this summer. Nothing like coming through on the last day of summer vacation! The Friday before school started we went to the zoo and had a great time. The weather was beautiful and the animals were great.



We went up to Jeff's parents cabin at Lake Tyee (up North by Mt. Baker) for a weekend as well. It was fun to spend time with Grandma and Grandpa Sligh. The weather could have been a lot better but it didn't seem to bother the kids. We did some swimming, putt putt golf, hiking (sort of) and lots of eating. Our friends the Surprenants came along with us and that made for a great weekend!





I just had to get a picture of the guys in front of the Golden Falcon one last time before Jeff's mom sells the trailer. :) Look out...that owl on Jeff's shoulder is real!


Then for one last horaah, Jeff took the kids down to Oregon to go riding at Sand Lakes. It was quite the adventure with a few hiccups along the way, some of which are, getting lost, getting a ticket, and having the trailer break down. But despite the problems they had such a wonderful time! You can tell by the smiles in the pictures. Abigail and Wyatt have taken to riding just as their daddy had hoped. They love it and they love having special time with their father. Jeff is such an amazing dad. We are lucky to have him and we love him very much!!

Big Boy!

Wyatt's growing up so fast! Today he met his Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Benson. She will be a wonderful teacher and Wyatt can't wait to start school. When I asked him what he thought about his new teacher it was so cute that I just had to share, and I quote, "She's so cute and she has nice hair!" Should be a fun year! We love you so very much Wyatt.

Summer 2008

I don't even know where to begin because I'm so very behind on posting...so, I'm going to give a short summer in review for the Allen family! Here's some pics and short descriptions of the places we've been and the things we've done as a family this summer. It's probably been our busiest summer yet, but so much fun. I can't believe it's ending in just a little over a week. :( I guess we are in denial about that because we have plans for the next 3 weekends in a row as well. More to come on those plans. :) LONG LIVE SUMMER!

We started off the summer with another trip to see my family in Colorado. Yes, another LONG drive but they are worth it!!! We had a really good time and enjoyed seeing my parents new home. We spent 2 full weeks there over the 4th of July and were able to do some pretty great things:

On the 4th of July my dad took us on a day trip up to Telluride. We've been before and it's a beautiful mountain town but this time he took us on his new toy (below) for a ride up to the top of Imagene Pass. We climbed this 13,000 foot mountain on the quads and it was so amazing! The views are incredible...like being in another world! We had so much fun. It was a great way to celebrate the independance of this amazing county that we live in!!





That night we went back to my parents and celebrated the 4th with lots of food, family and fireworks. It was a wonderful day!!



And so, after all that fun we returned home, exuasted! Thanks for such a wonderful trip mom and dad. We love you all so very much!




After we got home and rested for a bit we moved right on to the rest of the summer. We've taken lots of weekend trips, camping, boating, beach, and riding.

Beach Trip to Seaside, OR






We went to Lincoln Rock this year. It's the first time we've ever been there. It was wonderful. We went with friends, had great weather and lots of fun on the boats. Can't wait to go back again next year!

We camped at Lake Kachess for the the first time as well this year. It was beautiful but I must say the weather could have been better! It was a weekend of firsts...Jeff got up on a wake board for the first time on this trip! It was great and we had a good time. Thanks, friends, for all the fun!!

The kids had a great time riding their quads this summer with their dad and grandpa! Here's some pics. There's lots to learn but they are picking it up quickly.

This was right at the beginning of summer. A group of friends and I took our daughters to see the High School Musical play in downtown Seattle. We had so much fun and loved the play! It's been such a wonderful summer so far and there is more to come. We have a few more camping and riding trips planned so I'll update soon!

Gone Missing....

Not sure if you have been wondering why I've been missing from the blogging world for the last 4 months (maybe nobody has missed me) but...if you don't already know, Jeff and I are expecting our 4th child!! We are very excited but up until a few weeks ago I've been so sick that the blogging (among several others things) had to be set a side for a time. I am 16 weeks now and feeling great! I love the second trimester. :) All is going well with the pregnancy. We are excited to find out if Abigail's wish for a little sister will come true. Only time will tell! I am due January 9th so it will be a very busy winter season but so very joyful. I'll try to get back on the wagon and start posting much more often than once every 4 months!!!
